The thirteenth book of the Lone Wolf, and the first of the Grand Master
series, is set five years after the end of the war with the Darklords. With
them defeated, peace reigned in Magnamund, and the various kingdoms were
recovering from the war and its devastation.
Lone Wolf had rebuilt the Monastery and initiated the recreation of the
Kai Lords. He trained the new warriors, and his first graduates took on the
responsibility of teaching the younger ones. At the same time, he developed
further the Magnakai Disciplines beyond what was thought possible.
However, not everything is idyllic; there are still forces of evil in
the world. One of the most powerful is the Druids of Ruel, a caste entrenched
in a formidable kingdom with an impenetrable fortress. Inside, they prepare a
way to subjugate Magnamund, a plague that will annihilate everything. Only Lone
Wolf stands between them and their macabre purpose.
The new series comes with the familiar elements from the previous books
but also introduces new interesting aspects, new disciplines, variations in the
rules, and a richer narrative in an extremely perilous mission for the hero.
